GameTime continues to lead the way in ADA research and accessibility

GameTime’s newest product, the Adaptive Swing Seat, was recently unveiled at the NRPA trade show in Tampa, FL. This pioneering product for playgrounds will allow children with disabilities the opportunity to swing alongside their able bodied peers, encouraging integrated play opportunities for all.

GameTime’s ongoing commitment to playground accessibility continues to set them apart as the destination manufacturer for accessible playground equipment. Besides their dedication to accessibility, the company shares a unique lab partnership with the Siskin Institute of Chattanooga TN, a facility dedicated to improving the lives of special needs children in the community.

When GameTime creates a new product, they have the opportunity to test it at the Institute, with children who would use and benefit from the products, assuring that play is available to all children with no limits. “We feel that the benefit to these children is something that will last a lifetime,” says GameTime Senior Vice President Tom Norquist. “The benefits of play are crucial to all children’s emotional, physical and social development, regardless of their abilities. Play allows special needs children the opportunity to interact with their peers, sliding, swinging and playing independent of adult intervention. They are able to use their imagination, interact in games, and develop. One only needs to see the huge smiles, and the look of pride and accomplishment on the children’s faces to know that our products are a huge success. The best part is knowing that we are helping these children to develop social, physical and emotional skills, all while having a great time!”

GameTime’s commitment to accessibility is followed through all their products and practices. Playground designs featured in their catalog meet accessibility requirements, so customers do not have to worry about adding components to meet the guidelines. Their sales representatives are trained in accessibility requirements, so they can design custom playgrounds that are compliant, as well as fun.
